African Pygmy Mice are much like normal White Mice, but they can withstand slightly higher temps than White Mice, but can not take the cold like White Mice.  Keep the temperature above 50 degrees.  Some info sites state that anything under 60 may kill them, but it gets colder than 60 degrees in my rodent room in the winter, but only for a few hours at night.

          Housing African Pygmy mice in 5 - 10 gal Aquariums with Pine Chips about 3" deep is sufficient.  Our breeders are kept at a ratio of 1.3.  That's 1 male and 3 females per cage.  Once the babies are weaned, we keep males and females separated while they grow to adult size.  Many females living together seem to do fine, but you might find that the males may chew each others tails off, and chew on each others ears.  These males can and will still breed with no problems.

          Pygmy Mice produce 3 babies on average.  The babies grow very fast for the first few days, so you need look for new babies often to get them at their smallest size.  The babies are ready to breed at about 4 months of age.  Lifespan is 2 - 3 years when breeding steadily.

          Pygmy Mice do great on Parakeet Feed and a small 6oz or 8oz water bottle is fine.  We also add a couple pieces of Hog Cubes for them to nibble on.

          These produce the smallest pinks for the smallest snakes.  Pinks are slightly smaller than the pink in the picture when born.
